In Spring 2016, I attended “From War to Politics: An International Conference on El Salvador’s Peace Process." The event was sponsored by NYU’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) and Columbia’s Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) (here and here). It was a terrific conference, where we were able to listen to firsthand accounts of the Salvadoran peace process from diplomats, politicians, economists, military personnel, and academics. A great deal of the material is already known by academics but the participants hadn't really spoken publicly about their experiences in over two decades.
Transcripts and videos of the panels are now available on the conference's website.
